Setting up Teamlead: the steps at a glance

From an empty environment to a published schedule in eight steps, plus what Teamlead sets up for you.

Before you can schedule, you set up Teamlead: skills, settings, employees and staffing. Work through the steps in this order, because each step builds on the previous one.

How to do it

Do you see Get started at the top of the menu? That checklist guides you through the steps. If you do not see it, follow this order.

  1. Set up company & location: under Settings > General, check the name, working days and opening hours.
  2. Create skills: under Skills, create the types of work, such as phone and email. Also create skills for breaks, leave and illness. You can group skills in the optional step Group skills.
  3. Under Settings, set up the breaks, holidays and work locations.
  4. Add employees: add employees or import them. Give each one work times and skills in their profile.
  5. Set staffing template: under Staffing templates, specify how many people you need on each skill at each moment.
  6. Publish your first schedule: create the schedule and publish it. How this works depends on the scheduling method at your location.
  7. Invite team (optional): send employees an invitation so they can see their schedule and request leave. You do not need this to create a schedule.
  8. Complete setup: this hides the checklist and the Product tour button for everyone. You cannot undo this yourself.

Good to know

  • A step ticks itself off as soon as the work is done. You can also choose Mark as done yourself, or Not needed for an optional step.
  • Did you create a trial environment yourself? Then skills, employees, a staffing template and a first shift template are already in place. Review them and adjust them.
  • Only an account manager can add and invite employees.

What Teamlead sets up for you

You cannot change some settings yourself. For these, email support@teamlead.io:

  • adding a location, or changing its name, working days or opening hours;
  • the scheduling method per location (with shift templates or continuous scheduling);
  • turning on shifts and shift import;
  • modules such as leave requests, leave balances, external employees and hybrid working;
  • connections that are not part of your subscription;
  • single sign-on (SSO) and the email domains for which you can create accounts;
  • extending your trial.
